Johann Andreas Friedrich Stiehle , since 1863 von Stiehle (born February 27, 1791 in Magdeburg , † January 5, 1874 in Magdeburg ) was a Prussian lieutenant general .

Friedrich was the son of Schönfärbers and chicory manufacturer Johann Erdmann Stiehle and his wife Rosine Dorothea, née Meinecke.

Military career

Stiehle joined the Westphalian Guard Jäger Battalion on July 1, 1808, and took part in the Battle of Volontina with the association in 1809 on the occasion of the Napoleonic campaign in Spain . He rose to lieutenant and in mid-March 1811 was transferred to the 2nd line regiment as an adjoint major. With this regiment he took part in the 1812 Russian campaign in 1812 . He fought in the battles near Vilna, Kovno, Borodino , Koletzkoi, Krasnoi and the Berezina . Stiehle became a captain on April 1, 1813 . After the defeat of the French army near Leipzig in October 1813, the Kingdom of Westphalia dissolved.

Stiehle then switched to Prussian services and was employed as a company commander in the 2nd Elb Landwehr Infantry Regiment on November 20, 1813. During the Wars of Liberation he found himself at the sieges of Torgau , Magdeburg, Maubeuge, Landrecies, Rocroy and the battles at Ligny , Belle Alliance , Wavre and Namur .

On December 28, 1815 he was promoted to Prime Lieutenant and on June 9, 1816 transferred to the 32nd Infantry Regiment . There Stiehle became captain and company commander on March 21, 1818 . From April 1 to September 30, 1829, he commanded the infantry training battalion. On June 14, 1833 he was promoted to major and was from March 30, 1834 to March 29, 1840 commander of the Landwehr battalion in the 33rd Infantry Regiment. Subsequently transferred to the 14th Infantry Regiment , Stiehle was commissioned on March 22, 1843, Lieutenant Colonel and on March 31, 1846 with the promotion to Colonel with the command of the 33rd Infantry Regiment . On October 5, 1846 he was appointed regimental commander. As a souvenir, he received a silver tribute goblet made by the court goldsmith Johann George Hossauer . This was followed by the aggregation of his regiment on July 21, 1849 as a commander of Danzig . On June 16, 1850, Stiehle was appointed commander of the 2nd Infantry Brigade and in this position was promoted to major general on September 22, 1851 . Stiehle was raised to the hereditary Prussian nobility on August 6, 1863 and died in Magdeburg on January 5, 1874.

Stiehle married Elisabeth Friederike Karoline Töpke on January 25, 1820 in Magdeburg, a daughter of the fine-dyeing artist Christian Töpke. The later Prussian infantry general Friedrich Wilhelm Gustav (1823–1899) emerged from the marriage.
