Friesau is a district of the city of Saalburg-Ebersdorf in the Saale-Orla district in Thuringia . Friesau has 381 inhabitants (as of 2016).

Geography and geology

Friesau is 520–600 m above sea level. The Thuringian-Franconian Slate Mountains end not far from the village and merge into the Southeast Thuringian Slate Mountains . These soils are mainly made of quartzist banded slate and quartz sandstone. In addition, there is the high humus content, so that high yields can be achieved with this soil. Spring troughs and narrow valley areas of the brooks are typical grassland locations. Agriculture is favored on plateau-like ridges, undulating plains and flat slopes. In other locations, forest use predominates. In terms of traffic, Friesau and the surrounding area are well developed. The station Ebersdorf-Friesau located on the triptis-marxgrün railway . There is only freight traffic . The location of the village is very interesting for those looking for relaxation.

history

In 1344 Friesau was first mentioned in a document.

Probably in the 12th century a fortified church was built, which was equipped with a famous winged altar in 1447 and in which a pulpit clock has been preserved. Today the church is a listed building.

After the fall of the Wall , an industrial area was built and set up around the railway site.

With holidays in the country, the farming village is breaking new ground for those seeking relaxation.

The agriculturally oriented village formed the Agricultural Association Friesau after the fall of the Wall. There were also two resettlers . One of them works traditionally and the other modern.

A sawmill was established and the wood was delivered by truck.
