Fruerlundmühle
Fruerlundmühle ( Danish : Fruerlund Mølle ) is located south of Flensburg - Fruerlund . The street of the same name, Fruerlundmühle , on which the Fruerlund mill stood around nineteen hundred , runs through the small area, which in parts also belongs to the Jürgensby district .
background
In the 19th century, the geographical area name Fruerlund still referred to a narrow, long strip of area that stretched from Mürwiker Bucht via Fruerlundholz and Fruerlundhof to Trögelsbyer Weg (more precisely at today's intersection with Richard-Wagner-Straße ) near Adelby . In the late 18th century there was already a first windmill on the way to Glücksburger Strasse . The mill, of the type of a Dutch windmill , existed until 1866. In the same year, a new Dutch windmill was built to the east of today's street Fruerlundmühle ( Lage ) as a successor. The mill in question was obviously directly north of the Lautrupsbach valley . A little further south, the Fruerlund railway station of the Flensburg district railway was opened in 1901 at Glücksburger Strasse 174 . Since the beginning of the 20th century, Flensburg began to grow increasingly (see population development in Flensburg ). Numerous military buildings for the Imperial Navy have been erected in the Mürwik area since the beginning of the century . Also in the area of Fruerlundmühle evidently citizens settled since the beginning of the century. After the incorporation of Fruerlund in 1910, the geographical location and extent of Fruerlund should change significantly. A large part of the southern Fruerlund was later assigned to the Engelsby district and, roughly, its Engelsby-Süd district . The southern area of Fruerlundmühle with the station building was later officially added to Jürgensby (the Sender district of the city, which was formerly also called pencil ). (The northern area of Fruerlundmühle remained with Fruerlund.)
Shortly after the incorporation, in 1912, the Fruerlunder Mühle burned down. The Flensburger Nachrichten reported about it: “Since the mill [of the mill owner Paulsen] was still working with light late in the evening, the cause of the fire is assumed to be the explosion of a lamp. The fire, which found plenty of food in the grain masses stored there, spread so quickly that the mill and the attic of the house fell victim to the flames in a short time and the residents were only able to save themselves poorly dressed. The alarmed fire brigade as well as the fourth voluntary Feuerwehrkompagnie (Engelsby) had to remain a long time idle, as the wings of the mill continued were turned by the wind, which did not allow a work granted but otherwise a fantastic sight. " The weirs succeeded the fire keep away from the downstairs apartment. Despite the regrets of the citizens of Flensburg, the mill was never rebuilt. The street along the burnt down mill, which has been called Fruerlundmühle since the address book in 1905 at the latest, retained its name and was officially awarded it on June 6, 1957. At the beginning of the 1950s, the tracks of the disused railway were dismantled and the north road was built in its place , which was opened to car traffic in 1954. The Fruerlundmühle street, via which pedestrians can still reach Glücksburger Straße and the nearby station building, was given a new bridge after the construction of the east bypass around 2006, which leads over the Lautrupsbach valley. This new "Bridge Fruerlundmühle" was completed in 2009. The station building, which has been rebuilt many times, now serves as the "Hotel Fruerlund" and also houses the Dionysos restaurant. The bus stop by the hotel is also called Fruerlundmühle.
