Fruerlundhof ( also: Fruerlund-Hof; also Fruerlundgård in Danish ) is the name of an area in the Fruerlund district of Flensburg . The old buildings of Fruerlundhof are among the cultural monuments of the Fruerlund district.

location

Fruerlundhof today consists in the narrower sense of the street areas Fruerlundhof and Alt-Fruerlundhof as well as the city area immediately to the southeast. In addition, the northern road areas belong to Fruerlundholz the same district Fruerlundhof (sometimes abbreviated yard ). Just south of Old Fruerlundhof the area includes Fruerlundmühle on.

history

Sometime in the High Middle Ages or only in the late Middle Ages , a Fruerlund single farm was created through an evacuation in Adelby , probably directly in the area of today's Alt-Fruerlundhof. The owners of Fruerlundhof (or Alt-Fruerlundhof) have been passed down almost continuously since 1468. In 1742, the farmer Peter Iwersen (1702–1747) bought the farm in question at a public auction. The farm has remained in the family for generations. From the century the Iwersen family took over the farm, the remnants of the Alt-Fruerlundhof 4–8 have been preserved to this day. This still consists of a house with the year 1794 on the east gable side and a stable wing to the west. In 1832, Hans Iwersen (1779–1862) built the house with the address Alt-Fruerlundhof No. 1, which is still preserved today. The farm building next to it (with the same address) dates from 1901.

At the beginning of the 20th century, large areas of Fruerlund belonged to the Iversen families and the Jost farming family from Twedter . In 1910, Fruerlundhof was incorporated into Flensburg as part of Fruerlund. After the Second World War , the city population of Flensburg increased considerably due to the influx of refugees. As a result, a lot of new living space was created in Fruerlund. Alt-Fruerlundhof, with the two Fruerlund courtyards, was deliberately retained as an element of the new designed district. Apparently, from the mid-1970s, the area northeast of the original Fruerlundhof was also built on. The street there was then named Fruerlundhof.

The Evangelical Lutheran parish was established there in the early 1980s . The church building complex with the address Fruerlundhof 1 ( Lage ), which was apparently built at the same time, consists of a modern community center , a bell tower and the associated Alsterbogen youth center. The community hall with altar, pulpit, baptismal font, lectern and a digital organ for the church services of the community was created by the Artist Uwe Appold designed. In 2004 the parish numbered around 3700 parishioners. In 2017, after more houses were built in the Fruerlundhof area, the parish already had around 6000 parishioners. The street of the original Fruerlundhof settlement with the two courtyards was officially named Alt-Fruerlundhof on July 3, 1980. Most recently, the residential development in Fruerlundhof grew considerably in the Hestoft area . A wide strip of green from Fruerlundhof on the east bypass developed into a building boundary. The said green strip joins the green corridor of the Lautrupsbach and extends to the Osbektal . Due to the horseshoe-like overall shape of the preserved green natural area, which roughly consists of the Lautrupsbachtal, the aforementioned green strip of Fruerlundhof and the Osbektal, it was given the name Green Horseshoe. The Green Horseshoe has served as an inner-city hiking trail from Flensburg harbor to Sonwik since 2014 . The bus connection via line 5 , which at the end of the 1980s only reached as far as the Alsterbogen , was apparently continued to Hestoft in the 1990s or the first 2000s, as a result of the city's growth. At the end of 2013, line 5 was finally expanded into a ring line that includes the Flensburg campus.

In the same year 2013, Hans Christian Iwersen, who was the last to run Alt-Fruerlundhof No. 1, died. Before his death, he and his sister set up the Alt-Fruerlundhof Foundation 1. to enable age-appropriate living there. But the plans soon stalled due to a lack of investors. Shortly afterwards, in 2015, Alt-Fruerlundhof hit the headlines. The lack of regular pigeon feedings of old Iwersen meant that numerous feral pigeons flew around there without a owner.
