Fundamental is the studio album by the Pet Shop Boys released by Parlophone in May 2006 . It is the band's 16th studio album , the ninth with new material.

background

The album was recorded with producer Trevor Horn . It contains eleven new original compositions as well as Numb , which was written by Diane Warren . Originally, Numb was supposed to be a bonus track from PopArt: Pet Shop Boys - The Hits , but these became Miracles and Flamboyant . The album's booklet states that it is dedicated to two Iranian youths, Mahmoud Asgari and Ayaz Marhoni , who were hanged on July 19, 2005. The album title refers to fundamentalism . Neil Tennant said he was against fundamentalism of any sort: "I'm against fundamentalism of any sort; I think we all are, aren't we? We don't want to go back to the seventh century, thank you. I think we take religion too seriously. "

reception

The Grammy Awards 2007 was fundamental nominated for "Best Dance / Electronic Album", other nominations were held in 2007 as "Best Dance Recording" with "I'm with Stupid" and the Grammy Awards in 2008 for "Best Dance Recording" for "Minimal".
