Gérard Siracusa (born October 6, 1957 in Tunis ) is a French percussionist , drummer and composer who has emerged in the field of jazz and improvisational music as well as new music .

Live and act

Siracusa received his musical training in Marseille , Rueil-Malmaison and San Diego . From 1974 to 1984 he worked in Marseille with André Jaume , with whom he can be heard on six records, and was one of the founding members of the Groupe de recherche et d 'improvisation musicales . Since 1979 he has also formed the Molto Mobile trio with Bernard Vitet and Sylvain Kassap . Louis Sclavis also brought him to his Tour de France ; there was also a trio with Jean-Marc Montera and Yves Robert . Together with Michel Portal , Vinko Globokar , Claude Barthélemy , JF Jenny-Clark and Jean-Pierre Drouet, he was part of Diego Masson's Ensemble Musique Vivante , which particularly performs composed works of contemporary music. As the first percussionist in France, he recorded a solo album in 1983; In 1985 he gave solo concerts ( Solibrius ) and then formed a quartet with Sclavis, Robert and Mark Dresser . Then he worked with Claude Tchamitchian , Michel Godard , Renaud Garcia-Fons and Michael Riessler and was part of Barthélemy's version of the Orchester National de Jazz . Valentin Clastrier brought him in 1991 to record his Hérésie . He could also be heard with Riessler at the 1992 Donaueschinger Musiktage ( Héloise ). Then he formed the Incidences collective with Kassap, Jean-Marc Padovani , Hélène Labarrière , Franck Tortiller , François Corneloup and Manuel Denizet . He also recorded with Un Drame Musical Instantané , with Michel Doneda and with Nelly Pouget . He has also been involved in the recording of works by Klaus Huber , Nicolas Vérin, Jacques Diennet and Denys Bouliane and has composed for radio plays.
