Günter B. Fettweis
Günter Bernhard Leo Fettweis (born November 17, 1924 in Düsseldorf ; † October 31, 2018 in Leoben ) was a German-Austrian mining engineer . From 1968 to 1970 he was rector and from 1959 to 1993 university professor for mining science at the chair for mining science, mining technology and mining economics at the Montanuniversität Leoben .
Life
Fettweis was born as the son of the professor of mathematics Ewald Fettweis and his wife Aninhas, b. Leuschner Fernandes, born. In 1943 he took his matriculation examination in Düsseldorf. Between 1946 and 1950 he studied at the Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg and the Technical University in Aachen , where he graduated as a Dipl.-Ing. of the mountain subject. From 1950 to 1952 he was an assistant at the Institute for Mining Studies at RWTH Aachen University with Carl Hellmut Fritzsche and from 1953 to 1955 trainee lawyer at the mining authority of North Rhine-Westphalia . From 1955 to 1959 he worked at the Osterfeld-Sterkrade-Hugo Haniel hard coal composite mine in Oberhausen , most recently as operations director. From 1959 to 1993 he was full professor and head of the Institute for Mining Science, Mining Technology and Mining Management at the Montanuniversität Leoben. From 1960 to 1993 he worked as vice-president and chairman of the board committee (executive committee) of the technical-scientific association of the mining association of Austria. From 1968 to 1970 Fettweis was Rector of the Montan University Leoben in Austria.
From 1973 to 1977 and from 1987 to 1989 he was president and chairman of the board committee (executive committee) of the technical-scientific association of the mining association of Austria. Between 1976 and 2001 he was Vice President of the International Organizing Committee for the World Mining Congress and from 1987 to 1995 a member of the Supervisory Board of ÖIAG Bergbauholding AG (ÖBAG), Vienna. In 1993 he retired .
In 1949 he married Alice Yvonne, b. Fat white. You are the parents of four children.
Works
Fettweis wrote 336 scientific publications (excluding reviews & other publications). These include 15 books (author, co-author or editor) in the fields of geo-mining conditions (mining mountain and deposit theory), mining technology (especially mining technology), mining industry (especially coal mining and the assessment and classification of deposits of mineral raw materials) , the systematics, development and importance of the mining sciences and mining as well as university reform and mining history.
He also prepared 79 reports for the mining industry and the mining authorities in Austria. Internationally, he worked as a consultant for the United Nations New York and Geneva, the World Energy Council in London, the International Energy Agency Paris / London, the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis Vienna / Laxenburg and the German coal industry.
