Gürkan Çetinkaya (born December 4, 1987 in İzmit ) is a Turkish ice hockey player who has been under contract with İzmir Büyükşehir Belediyesi SK in the Turkish Super League since 2012 .

Career

Gürkan Çetinkaya began his career as a hockey player with the Kocaeli Büyükşehir Belediyesi Kağıt SK in his hometown İzmit , for whom he made his debut in the Turkish Super League in the 2004/05 season . In 2007 he became Turkish champions with his team . There were also three runners-up titles in 2005, 2006 and 2008. In 2011 he left the city on the Sea of ​​Marmara and joined the reigning national champion Başkent Yıldızları SK , with whom he was able to defend the title. Despite this success, he was drawn to the Aegean Sea to İzmir Büyükşehir Belediyesi SK in 2012 , with whom he was immediately runner-up in Turkey. In 2014 he was also able to win the Turkish championship title with the club.

International

For Turkey, Çetinkaya participated in the junior division in Division III at the U18 World Championships in 2004 and 2005 and the U20 World Championships in 2005 , 2006 and 2007 .

He played with the men's national team at the World Championships of Division II in 2005 , 2007 , 2010 , 2013 , 2014 and 2017 as well as at the World Championships of Division III in 2006 , 2008 , 2009 and 2012 , when he scored the most scorer points among defenders. He was also on the ice for the team from the Bosporus in qualifying for the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver .
