The Gardenissima race track

The Südtirol Gardenissima (from the Italian name for Val Gardena : Val Gardena , Ladin : Gherdëina ) is a ski race in Val Gardena, the longest giant slalom in the world. Every year the Südtirol Gardenissima is held in spring to end the winter season. In 2016 the race was held for the 20th time. Since 2014, the Südtirol Gardenissima Kids has been held on the following day, a 1.9 km long giant slalom and advancement competition, from the Seceda Alm to the valley station of the Fermeda chairlift, with a height difference of 350 m. Children aged eight and over can take part in the race.

route

The start of the Südtirol Gardenissima is on Mount Seceda at 2518  m and runs over 6 km down to the finish in the valley at the valley station of the Col Raiser cable car near Selva at 1485  m . The athletes overcome an altitude difference of 1033 m. 115 gates are marked out along the route. The start takes place in pairs, divided into categories. The route runs parallel for the first kilometer and then merges into a single route. The best travel time is around three minutes.

Regulations

The number of participants is limited to 650. Since participation is open to everyone (minimum age: 14 years) and well-known professionals from the World Cup circus as well as amateurs of all ages take part, the race offers an opportunity to compete with the best. Prizes are awarded in a wide variety of categories. A starter package is provided for all participants.
