Otmar Striedinger from Carinthia , who comes from Nöring , attended secondary school in Gmünd and the federal high school in Spittal an der Drau , where he graduated in 2010 . Striedinger celebrated his first successes in skiing in children's and school races: in February 2004 he achieved third place in his age group in the slalom and giant slalom at the international children's race Trofeo Topolino and in 2006 he finished second in the giant slalom at the Austrian school championships in the age group II . In the same year, however, he had to take a long break after a multiple fracture of the lower leg.
From March 2007 Striedinger started in FIS races as well as the Austrian championships and junior championships, in December 2008 the first appearances in the European Cup followed . At the beginning of 2009 Striedinger achieved his first podium places in FIS races, whereupon he was promoted to the B-team of the Austrian Ski Association (ÖSV) after a year in the junior squad . He has been a regular member of the European Cup since the 2009/10 season , and achieved his first top 10 results in this racing series in the 2010/11 winter . At the Junior World Championships 2011 in Crans-Montana Striedinger won the bronze medal in the downhill, but retired in the Super-G. At the Austrian junior championships of the same year he was second in his age group Youth II in the downhill behind Vincent Kriechmayr . After two years in the B squad, he was promoted to the ÖSV A squad in 2011.
Striedinger made his debut in the World Cup on November 28, 2010 in the Super-G of Lake Louise , which he finished in 38th place. Even at his next World Cup starts over the next two years, he remained without points. On February 2, 2012 he achieved his first podium in the European Cup with third place in the Super-G of Santa Caterina Valfurva . In spring 2012 he was transferred back from the A to the B squad of the ÖSV. On December 29, 2012, Striedinger won World Cup points for the first time in his ninth World Cup race when he finished 25th in the descent on the Pista Stelvio in Bormio . On December 7, 2013, he finished second in the Super-G at Beaver Creek for the first time on the podium in a World Cup race. At the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi , he finished fifth in the Super-G and missed the bronze medal by two hundredths of a second. On January 25, 2019, the Carinthian achieved his first downhill podium with a 3rd place in the downhill from Kitzbühel .
