The Gartempe ( occitan . Gartempa ) is a river in France that runs in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region . It rises in the Massif Central , near Pétillat , in the municipality of Peyrabout , at an altitude of about 640 meters and flows into the Creuse as a left tributary after 205 kilometers near La Roche-Posay . On her way she crosses the Creuse , Haute-Vienne and Vienne departments .
