Châteauponsac ( Occitan : Chastel Ponçac ) is a French municipality with 2035 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Haute-Vienne in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine . Châteauponsac is located in the arrondissement of Bellac , is the main town ( Chef-lieu ) of the canton of the same name and is a member of the Communauté de communes Gartempe Saint-Pardoux . The inhabitants are called Châtelauds .
geography
Châteauponsac is located about 33 kilometers north of Limoges on the Gartempe . The Semme river also crosses the municipality. Châteauponsac is surrounded by the neighboring communities
- Dompierre-les-Églises in the north and north-west,
- Saint-Sornin-Leulac in the north, Saint-Amand-Magnazeix in the northeast,
- Bessines-sur-Gartempe in the east and south-east,
- Saint-Pardoux-le-Lac with Saint-Pardoux in the south, Saint-Symphorien-sur-Couze in the south and south-west and Roussac in the south-west,
- Balledent in the west and south-west,
- Rancon in the west,
- Villefavard in the northwest.
The former route nationale 711 (today's D711) runs through the municipality .
