Cieux ( Occitan : Síus ) is a municipality with 989 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the north of the Haute-Vienne department in France . Cieux belongs to the arrondissement of Bellac and the canton of Bellac (until 2015: canton of Nantiat ). The inhabitants call themselves " Ciellois ".
Geography, geology
Cieux is located about 18 kilometers north of Limoges in a lake landscape. Cieux is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Blond in the north, Vaulry in the northeast, Chamboret in the east, Peyrilhac in the southeast, Oradour-sur-Glane in the south, Javerdat in the west and southwest and Montrol-Sénard in the west and northwest.
The Cieux-Vaulry granite is part of the Limousin tonalite line .
