Bessines-sur-Gartempe is a French commune in Arrondissement of Bellac , in Haute-Vienne and the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine . It is located 35 km north of Limoges in the Vallée le la Gartempe . In the 18th century the population grew from 1,500 to 2,000. Bessines currently has 2,836 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017).
The village has a motorway connection to the A20 .
The district of Morterolles with a three-digit population also belongs to Bessines-sur-Gartempe .
