Azat-le-Ris ( Occitan : Asac le Ríu ; also Asac lo Ris ) is a French municipality with 257 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Haute-Vienne in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine . Azat-le-Ris is located in the arrondissement of Bellac and belongs to the canton of Châteauponsac (until 2015: canton Le Dorat ). The inhabitants are called Dorachons .
geography
Azat-le-Ris is about 56 kilometers north-northwest of Limoges . The rivers Salleron and Narablon have their source here . Azat-le-Ris is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Brigueil-le-Chantre in the north, Verneuil-Moustiers in the northeast, Tersannes in the east, La Bazeug in the south, Oradour-Saint-Genest in the south and southwest, Lathus-Saint-Rémy in the west and Bourg-Archambault in the north-west.
The former 675 (today's D675) runs through the community .
