The Gauliga Westfalen 1933/34 was the first season of the Gauliga Westphalia in football. FC Schalke 04 secured the championship with a ten-point lead over the tied teams SV Höntrop and SuS Hüsten 09 . Schalke qualified for the final round of the German championship , which they won with a 2-1 final victory over 1. FC Nürnberg . The relegation ranks were occupied by Sportfreunde 95 Dortmund and Arminia Bielefeld . Westfalia Herne and Union Recklinghausen rose from the district leagues .
