Geard Ajetović (born February 28, 1981 in Beočin , Yugoslavia ) is a Serbian professional boxer in the super middleweight division .
Amateur career
Geard Ajetović played over 300 amateur fights and won eleven national championship titles. In 1998 he reached the second place in the light welterweight division at the Junior World Championships in Buenos Aires , after he was eliminated in the final against Yuri Tomaschow. However, he defeated this in February 1999 at a tournament in Banja Luka .
In September 1999 he won the gold medal in the light welterweight division at the European Junior Championships in Rijeka , defeating Sebastian Zbik . He then took part in December of the same year at the European Olympic qualification tournament in Athens , where he defeated Dejan Zavec , Vitalie Grușac , Orhan Öztürk and Leonard Bundu at welterweight . Since he had already qualified, he no longer entered the final match against Oleg Saitow .
At the Olympic Games in Sydney in 2000 , however, he was defeated in the first fight against Parkpoom Jangphonak with a score of 9: 9+. In September 2001 he won a bronze welterweight medal at the Mediterranean Games in Tunis .
In July 2016, he boxed again with the amateurs after professional boxers were now allowed to participate in the Olympic Games. However, he failed at the qualifying tournament in Venezuela to Raul Sanchez from the Dominican Republic. At the 2017 European Championships in Ukraine , he lost in the first fight against the Austrian Edin Avdić. In 2018 he won the Serbian light heavyweight championships.
Professional career
In 2003 he started his professional career in England and achieved a record of 16 wins, one loss and one draw. Eleven of his opponents had a positive match record. He also defeated the Frenchman Robert Rosélia (26-3), who had already boxed against Sebastian Sylvester and defeated Gianfranco Rosi . In June 2008 he boxed for the IBO world title in middleweight , but lost on points against title holder Daniel Geale . This was followed by defeats to Dmitri Pirog and Matthew Macklin .
After a two-year break in the ring, he returned in November 2010 and achieved a mixed match record in the following years. By knockout win in the first round against Jackson Chanet (29-2), he won in January 2011, the Mediterranean Championship of the WBC in the light heavyweight division . By February 2012, he suffered two narrow point defeats against Ante Bilić (25-2) and Piotr Wilczewski (29-2).
In September 2012 he won the WBO European Super Middleweight Championship, and in May 2013 the IBF International Championship . In September 2013 he lost to Harry Simon (28-0). In April 2014 he defeated the Ukrainian Vyacheslav Uselkov (30-3). He suffered further defeats in November 2014 against Giovanni de Carolis (21-5) and in August 2015 against Dimitri Tschudinow (14-1).
Against Michał Gerlecki (11-0) he won the Polish International Light Heavyweight Championship in October 2015. In October 2017 he lost on points to Sakio Bika (33-7).
