Against everything, against nothing is the fifth studio album by Frei.Wild , the German rock band from Brixen in the Italian province of Bolzano-South Tyrol . It was released on March 30, 2008 on the Magdeburg independent label Asphalt Records in a first edition of 2000 CDs and 250 LPs. On October 9, 2009, the album was re-released via Frei.Wild's new label Rookies & Kings . In addition, a premium box set of the album was released on August 30, 2013.
Music style and content
The album consists almost entirely of rock, quickly played songs (z. B. Keep your nose , evil and mean ), only the song time homesick, sometimes itchy feet is a little quieter pieces. Thematically, many tracks adhere to the motto that you shouldn't give up, but keep going on your way (e.g. boy carry on , winners get up where losers stay , someone is at your side ). On the other hand, Always Higher is very critical of society and denounces the megalomania of the people who destroy the environment without thinking about the consequences. In the song Mal Heimweh, mal Fernweh , as on the previous albums, the band's patriotic to nationalistic attitude towards South Tyrol is again evoked.
Cover design
The album cover is a black and white negative image. It shows two young people kicking a wall. In the upper part is the band name Frei.Wild and at the bottom the title against everything, against nothing .
The cover of the premium box set from 2013 shows a white emblem with a neon green scorpion on a black background. The black lettering against everything and against nothing is on the white ribbons of the coat of arms . The Frei.Wild logo is in white at the bottom of the picture.

After being re-released in 2013, Gegen alles, gegen nothing entered the German album charts at number 4 and stayed in the top 100 for three weeks.

The feedback to the album was mostly positive.
- The website AgF-Radio.de certifies against everything, against nothing a consistently high level and an improvement on the predecessor:
“ Frei.Wild actually made the impossible possible and put one more thing on top of it, even though the bar was already very high. From the textual content to the sound and the brilliant recording, the songs are of absolutely high quality. [...] For me and for many German rock fans, this album is one of, if not THE highest quality album of recent times. Lyrically, rhythmically and qualitatively on a very high level. "
- The page punkrocknews.de gave the album four out of a possible five points and also certified the South Tyroleans a musical improvement:
