Opposition is the tenth studio album by Frei.Wild , the German rock band from Brixen in the Italian province of Bozen-South Tyrol . It is a double album and was released on April 3, 2015 via the label Rookies & Kings as a deluxe edition and as a box set , including DVD and audio book. In addition, a Mehr Geld für Bier ( MGfB ) edition was released that only contains half of the songs.

Music style and content

The album can be assigned to the genres German rock and hard rock . In addition to fast and rocking songs, such as We break your souls or Unforgotten, immortal, lifelong , there are also deep and calm songs (e.g. Like a protective angel ).

Opposition went straight to number 1 in the German and Austrian album charts , while it was number 2 in Switzerland. In the 2015 German annual charts, the album was number 7.

On December 12, 2014, the first single Wir break your Souls was released and entered the German charts at number 8 for a week. The second single Unforgotten, Immortal, Lifetime was released on January 23, 2015 and reached number 6 in the charts. On March 13, 2015, Wie ein schützender Engel was released as the third single and entered the charts at position 11. In addition, music videos for the songs The band, the truth is brought out , have no fear , let yourself go , alone, without you, with you and together and united .

Sales figures and awards

In June 2018, Opposition was awarded platinum for over 200,000 units sold in Germany. In May 2017 the album received the golden record in Austria for more than 7,500 sales.

Frei.Wild received an award for the album in the category "Group Rock / Alternative (national)" at the 2016 Echoverleihung .

“The majority of the more than two dozen" opposition "chants simply sound like B-goods. The predecessor proved that the simple, sing-along and party-compatible recipe from South Tyrol can sound fresh. Unfortunately, nothing remains of the "enemies of your enemies" hit density. "Opposition" in no way seems aggressive or motivated, as one might assume given the title. [...] The South Tyroleans just don't seem to think of anything anymore. There is no other way to explain why "Solid Traps As You Fall, But Landen Do You Hard" actually contains a track about a night of drinking. [...] "Opposition" basically no longer offers any target for critics and the media. Whether that's good or bad for the band remains to be seen. If things go on like this musically in the long term, there is hardly any need for discussion in this respect either. "

On December 4, 2015, a new version of the album was released as an Xtreme Edition .

In addition to all the songs from the normal album, the Xtreme Edition also contains associated single tracks, a free download song and three previously unreleased pieces from the period in which the album was created. The two DVDs, with a total playing time of over five hours, show live recordings of the band from the previous tour to the album as well as a road movie .

A day before the Xtreme Edition was released, a music video for the song Feeling with the Heart, Seeing with the Eyes was released.

Chart success

After the release of the Xtreme Edition , Opposition (the sales of both album versions are valued together) managed to re-enter the German Top 100 in December 2015 at number 4.
