Geoff Walker (born December 9, 1987 in Charlottetown , Prince Edward Island ) is a Canadian ice hockey player who has been under contract with the Lehigh Valley Phantoms in the American Hockey League since August 2015 .

Career

Geoff Walker began his career in 2003 with the Summerside Western Capitals in the Maritime Junior A Hockey League. In 2004 he moved to the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League for the Gatineau Olympiques . In the 2005/06 season, the Olympiques transferred him to PEI Rocket , so that Walker returned to his hometown of Charlottetown. In the next two years he was one of the most successful scorers on his team. Since Walker was not selected in the NHL Entry Draft , he made his professional debut in the Central Hockey League in early 2008 and played five games for the Texas Brahmas in the playoffs .

For the 2008/09 season he signed a contract with Ontario Reign from the ECHL . There Walker was the top scorer of his team and was eliminated in the first round of the playoffs. In September 2009 he took part in the training camp of the Los Angeles Kings from the National Hockey League and was then signed by their farm team Manchester Monarchs . For the Monarchs he completed 37 games in the American Hockey League and also played for the Ontario Reign in the ECHL. In September 2010 he moved to the Wilkes-Barre / Scranton Penguins from the AHL and was also invited to the Pittsburgh Penguins training camp . Wilkes-Barre / Scranton qualified as the team with the highest points for the playoffs, in which they got into the second round. Walker then extended his contract for a year. Before the next season he again took part in the camp in Pittsburgh. Walker played his best season in the AHL with 44 points in 68 games. For the 2012/13 season he received his first contract with a team from the NHL. The Colorado Avalanche used Walker only in the AHL with the Lake Erie Monsters . In addition, he was only able to play 51 games due to injuries. Then he took the Tampa Bay Lightning from the NHL under contract and used him in the AHL at Syracuse Crunch . In March 2014, Walker was sent to the ECHL on the Florida Everblades .

In August 2014 he signed a tryout contract with the Iserlohn Roosters from the German Ice Hockey League , which was valid until September . After three appearances in test matches, the Roosters ended their collaboration on August 25, 2014 because Walker was unable to convince. He then spent the 2014/15 season with the Ontario Reign and the Missouri Mavericks in the ECHL . In June 2015, the Canadian signed a contract with the Löwen Frankfurt from the DEL2 , but asked for it to be terminated just a few weeks later "for family reasons"; the management of the lions met his request on August 1st, 2015.

On August 21, 2015, the Lehigh Valley Phantoms from the AHL announced the attacker's commitment; he got a one-year contract there.
