Georg Wilhelm Adamovich (* 20th October 1947 in Hameln ) is a German engineer , management scientists , civil servant , politician ( SPD ) and former managing director of the Federation of German security and defense industry .

Life and work

After graduating from high school in Koblenz in 1968 , Adamowitsch initially did military service , then was a regular soldier and was appointed captain of the reserve in 1973. He then took up a degree in engineering (specializing in landscape planning) at the Technical University of Berlin , which he completed in 1978 with an engineering degree. 1978/79 he studied at the University of Administrative Sciences Speyer . He completed his second degree with a master's degree in administrative sciences (Mag. Rer. Publ.).

From 1980 to 1982 Adamowitsch was a research assistant in the government planning department of the State Chancellery of North Rhine-Westphalia . From 1983 to 1985 he worked as a consultant for the SPD parliamentary group in the North Rhine-Westphalian state parliament and from 1985 to 1990 as a consultant, head of division and personal assistant to the Minister for the Environment, Regional Planning and Agriculture. From 1990 to 1993 he was head of the office of Prime Minister Johannes Rau in the State Chancellery, from 1993 to 1995 he was head of department and head of the state planning authority in the Ministry for the Environment, Regional Planning and Agriculture. From 1996 to 1999 he acted as a representative for federal and European affairs for the state of North Rhine-Westphalia. At the same time he worked for VEW AG in Dortmund .

From September 1, 2011 to July 31, 2017, Adamowitsch was General Manager of the Federal Association of the German Security and Defense Industry (BDSV).

Public offices

In 1999 Adamowitsch was State Secretary in the Ministry of Economics and Medium-Sized Enterprises, Technology and Transport in North Rhine-Westphalia. The areas of energy and transport fell within his area of ​​responsibility. From 1999 to 2002 he was State Secretary and Head of the State Chancellery in the state government led by Prime Minister Wolfgang Clement . From 2002 to 2006 he held the position of a permanent state secretary in the Federal Ministry of Economics and Labor and since 2005 in the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology (2002–2005 in the Schröder II cabinet , 2005–2009 in the Merkel I cabinet ).

After leaving the company in 2006, Adamowitsch became coordinator for offshore energy at the EU Commission and a member of the supervisory board of the Mitteldeutsche Braunkohlengesellschaft .
