Rudiger Frohn

Rüdiger Frohn (born August 26, 1950 in Gevelsberg ) is a former German judge and political official . From 1999 to 2004 he was Head of the Office of the Federal President .

Life and work

Rüdiger Frohn grew up in the Bergisches Land . He graduated in Gevelsberg the Abitur , which entered the SPD in and performed from 1970 to 1971 civil service . He then studied at the University of Bochum law . In 1976 he passed the first state law examination , in 1979 the second. In the autumn of the same year he became an administrative judge in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia . In the summer of 1980 he was seconded to the Ministry of Justice and took over the management of Diether Posser's ministerial office . He was also responsible for personnel matters for judges and public prosecutors. In October 1982 Frohn was appointed judge at the administrative court. In 1985 he was transferred to the North Rhine-Westphalian State Chancellery under Prime Minister Johannes Rau . Frohn found a sponsor in him. In 1995 Frohn became State Secretary and Head of the State Chancellery. From 1999 to 2004 he was Head of the Office of the Federal President .

Frohn has been chairman of the Advisory Board of Stiftung Mercator in Essen since 2005 . In this capacity he received the award Citizen of the Ruhr Area in 2011 . In 2013 Frohn was made an honorary citizen of the University of Bochum .

He is also a member of the board of trustees of forum thomanum Leipzig eV
