Georg Christoph von Wachholtz (* August 8, 1646 , † May 25, 1716 ) was a Kurbrandenburg Oberkammerjunker , cathedral provost of Kolberg and governor of the Marienfließ monastery .

family

Georg Christoph von Wachholtz was a member of the old Pomeranian family Wachholtz . His parents were the state deputy Jacob von Wachholtz (* May 4, 1607; † 1667), heir to Althof and Schwedt, and Diana Caecilia von Manteuffel from the house of Kerstin , who had married his father for the second time.

In 1684 he married Juliane Eleonore von Wrangel († 1692), daughter of the Brandenburg colonel and commander of the Leib-Guard Infantry Regiment (No. 1) Wolmar von Wrangel (* 1634; † 1685). He then went into a second marriage in 1694 in Kolberg with Maria Sophie Augusta von Dewitz († 1698), daughter of the Brandenburg lieutenant general and governor of the Kolberg Fortress Joachim Balthasar von Dewitz (* 1636; † 1699). Finally, he married a third time with Louisa Amalia von Bonin , daughter of the Pomeranian district administrator Friedrich Wilhelm von Bonin, who survived him. The marriages resulted in four sons (all deceased young) and three daughters as follows:

  • Charlotte Juliane von Wachholtz (* 1694, † 1712), married to the Prussian privy councilor and provost Christoph von Waldow
  • Louisa Auguste von Wachholtz (* 1697; † 1712), married to Ernst Friedrich von Wedel , heir to Teschendorf near Freienwalde
  • Diana Magdalena von Wachholtz (* 1698; † 1752), married to the Prussian government council and prelate Adam von Podewils (* 1687; † 1731), heir to Wusterwitz

Life

Georg Christoph von Wachholtz was the hereditary lord of Dargislaff , Nessin , Börnicke , Schwedt , Althof and Kartlow . As a young man or during his apprenticeship, he had traveled to France, England and Holland. At first he was chamberlain to Elector Friedrich III. , then was for a while sergeant-major in the electoral regiment , but finally switched back to court service. The connection with the king was very close, and he was the godfather of Wachholtz's sons twice. From 1680 until his death, Wachholtz was head of the Marienfließ monastery as governor. During this time he is also referred to as chamberlain .
