Karl Georg Friedrich Dieckmann (born April 19, 1863 in Hanover , † April 27, 1947 in Aurich ) was a German painter and etcher .

Life

Georg Dieckmann enrolled at the Munich Academy on October 21, 1882 under matriculation number 4194 , where he studied with Ludwig von Löfftz . From there he moved to Dresden in 1891 , then to Vienna and Frankfurt am Main , where he studied in the Taunus in 1901 .

In addition, a creative period in Austria is known.

Before that, Dieckmann moved to his main residence in Hanover in 1894, where he set up his studio in Langenhagen. In the same year he became a member of the Hanover Art Association . He taught at the local arts and crafts school until the 1930s . After the war-related destruction of his workshop in 1941, he moved to East Frisia.

His great-grandson Stefan Dunkmann, a journalist in Aurich, auctioned an original painting from 1889 on the TV show "Bares für Rares" in 2019.

Georg Dieckmann was best known for his paintings , especially for his wall paintings , but also for his color etchings.
