Georg von Narciß

Georg Narciß , knight of Narciß since 1871 (born February 2, 1820 in Regensburg , † September 23, 1897 ibid) was a Bavarian major general .

Life

He was the son of the Bavarian Colonel Ludwig Narciß and his wife Henriette, née von Siffer.

Narciß entered the cadet corps as a pupil in 1830 and was appointed Junker in the 2nd Infantry Regiment "Crown Prince" of the Bavarian Army on August 19, 1836 . Just one year later, on August 29, 1837, he was promoted to lieutenant in the 12th Infantry Regiment "King Otto of Greece" . He served from September 1839 to December 1844 in the topographical office of the Quartermaster General .

On March 31, 1848 Narciß was first lieutenant , in June 1850 to captain II class and on March 31, 1855 to captain I class in the 4th Infantry Regiment "Gumppenberg" . Narciß, appointed major in the 7th Infantry Regiment "Hohenhausen" by army order of May 20, 1863 , took part in the campaign against Prussia with this regiment in 1866 . He fought in the skirmishes near Roßdorf (July 4, 1866), Helmstadt and Roßbrunn (July 25 and 26, 1866). On December 25, 1867, he was promoted to lieutenant colonel.

During the war against France , Narciß was appointed colonel in the 12th Infantry Regiment on August 22, 1870. At the head of this association , which belonged to the 1st Army Corps , he took part in numerous battles and skirmishes. Among other things, when taking Orléans , where he received a serious gunshot wound to the neck during the Battle of Beaugency on December 8, 1870. For his achievements in the battles near Orléans he received the Knight's Cross 1st Class of the Military Merit Order and the Iron Cross 2nd Class by army order of December 2, 1870 . After the Chapter of the Military Max Joseph Order, held on July 15, 1871 in Munich under the chairmanship of Major General Karl von Dietl , unanimously voted for Narciß to be accepted into the Order, he was accepted on July 29, 1871 for his services in in the battles at Orléans on October 11, 1870, was appointed Knight of this Order. Associated with this was the elevation to the personal nobility status and he was allowed to call himself "Knight of Narciß" after being entered in the nobility register .

On November 3, 1872 he was retired and on November 4, 1874 characterized as major general . Narciß died on September 23, 1897 at the age of 77 in his native Regensburg.

Narciß was married to Franziska Buxbaum. The daughter Georgine married the later Bavarian Lieutenant General Maximilian von Giehrl (1840-1896) on April 15, 1872 in Regensburg .
