Georgi Wassilew Agura ( Bulgarian Георги Василев Агура ; born February 8, 1853 in Krynytschne , Russian Empire , † February 10, 1915 in Sofia ) was a major general of the armed forces in Tsarist Bulgaria .

Life

Georgi Wassilew Agura first attended seminaries in Ismajil and Iași and was then a preacher in the Ismajil diocese for some time. After the founding of the Principality of Bulgaria, he completed an officer training as a member of the first year at the military school in Veliko Tarnowo , which he completed on May 10, 1879 as an ensign . Subsequently, he was briefly a member of a battery and adjutant to Prince Alexander Michailowitsch Dondukow-Korsakow , before he was promoted to lieutenant in September 1879, adjutant to Prince Alexander I of Bulgaria . He then graduated from August 25, 1880 to 1883, studying at the Saint Petersburg Law Academy and was promoted to lieutenant on August 30, 1882 during this time . After completing practical training in Russian military justice between 1883 and 1884, on his return he became a military prosecutor and lecturer in military administration at the military school in Sofia.

After his promotion to captain on August 30, 1885, Agura became chief of military justice and head of the military prosecutor's office and held this position until he retired in 1913. During the Serbian-Bulgarian War (November 14-28, 1885) he was company commander at Dimitrovgrad . After that he was also a lecturer in military law and ethics at the military school between 1886 and 1901. He was promoted to major on April 1, 1887 , on August 2, 1891 to lieutenant colonel and on August 2, 1895 to colonel . On November 15, 1900 he was promoted to major general . He wrote the text for the " Tsar Hymn " composed by Emil von Sauer on the occasion of the founding of Tsarist Bulgaria on October 5, 1908 . After the Balkan Wars , he retired from active military service in 1913 with the rank of lieutenant general .

He has received several awards for his services and received the officer's cross , the commanders and the high officer dignity of the Order of St. Alexander . He was also awarded the Grand Cross of the Order for Military Merit and the Order for Merit .
