Gerhard Delling (born April 21, 1959 in Rendsburg ) is a German television presenter and sports journalist .

Life

Delling grew up in Büdelsdorf , attended the Rendsburger Gymnasium Herderschule and from 1977 worked as a freelancer for the Schleswig-Holstein newspaper in Rendsburg. After graduating from high school , he studied economics at the Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel (CAU) from 1980 . He also became a freelancer at Norddeutscher Rundfunk (NDR) in Kiel and was involved in sports reports for radio and the TV program Schleswig-Holstein Magazin and as the author of articles for the German Athletics Magazine .

In 1984 Delling got a permanent job as a sports reporter at NDR, he graduated in 1985 with a diploma. In 1987 he was sports show - and sports extra reporter at Südwestfunk in Baden-Baden and was thus reinforced in television ARD represented. From 1991 he worked again for NDR television in the sports program area in Hamburg. He carried out coverage of the Olympic Games in Barcelona, ​​Sydney and Salt Lake City as well as tennis Grand Slam tournaments and thus became known to a larger television audience. In 1993 he was also the presenter of the NDR talk show and from 1994 to 1996 the ARD sports gala .

Gerhard Delling became a fixture in ARD sports reporting through the presentation and analysis of international soccer matches in collaboration with former soccer professional and national player Günter Netzer from 1998 to 2010. In 2000, the Delling / Netzer team received one for this type of moderation Adolf Grimme Prize and the 2008 Media Prize for Language Culture . In addition, he moderated the media magazine Zapp on NDR television for almost a year in 2002 . In 2005 he had a short guest appearance in the news area and moderated the daily topics for a week as a vacation replacement . Since October 2007 Gerhard Delling has hosted the magazine show Dellings Woche on WDR television; However, in view of the audience ratings, the program was discontinued on December 17, 2008 because of the “above-average effort”. On December 19, 2009, Delling hosted the birthday show in Dortmund's Westfalenhallen on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Borussia Dortmund , which was also broadcast by WDR . In 2000 he had already hosted a gala for the 100th anniversary of 1. FC Kaiserslautern .

Since 2009 he has also hosted the Sportclub program on NDR television . Furthermore, from April 2011 until he was hired in August 2014, Delling was chief presenter of the ARD magazine Wochenspiegel . As a substitute, he moderated the night magazine from August 11, 2015 to August 14, 2015 .

In October 2005 his book Fußball-Deutsch / Deutsch-Fußball was published .

In October 2018, he announced that he would no longer moderate for ARD from the end of May 2019. On May 5, 2019, he hosted his last sports club on NDR with an interview with Hannes Wolf , the Hamburger SV coach , and on May 25, his last ARD broadcast, the broadcast of the DFB Cup final in Berlin.

Private

Delling was married for the second time from June 2003 to the end of 2014 and has three daughters, two of them from their first marriage. His second wife was the television journalist Isabelle Delling (née Wagner), who also works for NDR.
