Gerhard Gepp
Gerhard Gepp (* 1940 in Pressbaum ) is an Austrian illustrator , painter and graphic artist .
life and work
Gerhard Gepp was born in Pressbaum in 1940. As an artist, Gepp is self-taught . First of all, he is training to be an offset printer . He then worked from 1964 to 1976 as a graphic designer and illustrator. He received prizes for various works, e.g. B. the poster prize of the city of Vienna and the "Rizzoli prize" Milan . The first publications in specialist magazines in Germany and Switzerland followed. Parallel to this, photographic works were created for advertising and Gepp exhibited his work in the Viennese gallery "Die Brücke". From 1976 he made drawings, gouaches and oil paintings, which were exhibited in the "BAWAG Foundation" Vienna. Further exhibitions in Austria and Germany followed, as well as presentations at art fairs in Basel, Cologne and Ghent.
Since 1989 he has been working on what is known as "Poetic Satire". These works with acrylic on cardboard and canvas have been exhibited in numerous international exhibitions and have been awarded prizes. His illustrations have appeared in numerous international and German-language publications.
From 1976 he made hand-colored etchings.
In 1991 Gepp began with the "Devolution" section. The paper and cardboard prepared with acids and alkalis were then graphically revised by the artist.
In 2001 he was given the professional title of Professor .
Gerhard Gepp lives as a freelance illustrator, painter and draftsman in Pressbaum near Vienna.
Gerhard Gepp is represented by the Siegfried Kaiblinger Gallery in Vienna.

Illustrations in newspapers and magazines
Gerhard Gepp made numerous commissions for print media. Including for the daily newspapers Der Standard , Die Presse and the Wiener Zeitung in Austria as well as Die Zeit and the Süddeutsche Zeitung in Germany. The magazines illustrated by Gepp include the Austrian business magazine trend , the popular science magazine Psychologie heute in Germany and the satirical magazine Nebelspalter in Switzerland. Gepp created numerous illustrations and cover images for the Wiener Journal , founded in 1980 by Jörg Mauthe and sold to Wiener Zeitung in 2004 .
