Gerhard Köpf

Gerhard Köpf (born September 19, 1948 in Pfronten ) is a German literary scholar and writer .

Life

Gerhard Köpf is the son of a country mailman. He graduated from high school in Füssen and from 1968 studied German and other subjects at the University of Munich . 1974 doctorate he there as a doctor of philosophy. After teaching assignments at various locations, he was appointed professor for contemporary literature and applied literary studies at the University of Duisburg in 1984 , where, in addition to visiting professorships, mainly on behalf of the Goethe Institute abroad, he worked until 2003. Since 2000 he turned increasingly to medicine, u. a. as visiting professor at the Psychiatric Clinic of the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich and external lecturer at the Chair of Psychiatry at the Technical University of Munich , Klinikum rechts der Isar , with a focus on psychopathology in language and literature.

Gerhard Köpf became known as an author through a series of novels set in the imaginary Allgäu town of Thulsern. In addition, Köpf writes radio plays and columnist articles for newspapers, magazines and medical organs (neurology, neurotransmitters). His literary work has been translated into eight languages.

Gerhard Köpf is a member of the PEN Center Germany , the German-speaking Society for Psychopathology of Expression (DGPA) and the Bavarian Academy of Fine Arts .

Köpf lives in Munich and occasionally plays smaller roles in film, television and theater, for example in 2017 at the Münchner Kammerspiele No-Theater .
