Gianni Ocleppo (born April 6, 1957 in Canale , Province of Cuneo , Piedmont ) is a former Italian tennis player .

Life

Ocleppo was in the finals of the Italian national tennis championships in 1979 and 1980. In 1979 he was in a single final on the ATP World Tour for the first time . In 1980 he won two double titles and the following year he won his first and only single title in Linz by beating Mark Edmondson in the final . By 1987 he was a total of five double-finals. He reached his highest ranking in the tennis world rankings in 1979 with position 30 in singles and 1987 with position 53 in doubles.

His best individual results in Grand Slam tournaments were three third round participations in the US Open . In doubles, he reached the second round of the French Open in 1978 .

Ocleppo played seven singles and five doubles games for the Italian Davis Cup team between 1980 and 1986 . In 1980 he was with the team in the final of the world group. In the 1-4 final defeat against Czechoslovakia he was used in the insignificant last individual and was defeated by Ivan Lendl in two sets.
