Giesensdorf is a district of the town of Pritzwalk in the Prignitz district in Brandenburg .

geography

The place is three kilometers southwest of Pritzwalk. The neighboring towns are Schönhagen in the north, Pritzwalk in the northeast, Neuhof in the east, Neuhausen and Buchholz in the southeast, Eggersdorf in the south, Mesendorf , Bullendorf , Kuhsdorf and expansion in the southwest, expansion in the west and Kuhbier and Vossberg in the northwest.

history

The first written mention of Giesensdorf comes from the year 1343. Therein the place was recorded under "Gysemarstorf". Until 1816 the place belonged to the district of Pritzwalk in the province of Prignitz ; part of the Kurmark of the Mark Brandenburg and then came to the Ostprignitz district . From 1952 Giesensdorf belonged to the Pritzwalk district in the Potsdam district . Since December 6, 1993 the place is part of today's Prignitz district.
