Jelena Noura "Gigi" Hadid (born April 23, 1995 in Los Angeles ) is an American model .

Life

Gigi Hadid is the daughter of the Palestinian real estate investor Mohamed Hadid and the former Dutch model Yolanda Hadid; this was later married as Yolanda Foster with the Canadian songwriter David Foster . She is the older sister of Bella Hadid , who also works as a model. She also has a younger brother, Anwar, and seven half-siblings. Hadid and her siblings grew up on a ranch in Santa Barbara , but then moved to Malibu .

Her career was difficult at first; many agencies rejected her on the grounds that she was too fat for a model. Hadid appeared in VMAN , Elle , Grazia , Cleo , Vogue and Paper magazines, and she was also on the covers of Galore , Schön! and Carine Roitfeld's CR Fashion Book . In 2012 she was the Face of Guess . As one of twelve young models, she was featured in the 2014 annual swimwear issue of Sports Illustrated . 2015 she won the Model of the Year Award of The Daily Front Row's . At the end of the year, she was first seen as a catwalk model at a Victoria's Secret Fashion Show .

Hadid has been an advertising medium for Maybelline since 2015 and Cara Delevingne's successor as the representative of the fashion label Topshop . Hadid also appeared in several music videos . She was seen in the videos for Bad Blood by Taylor Swift , Simplethings by Miguel and Pillow Talk by Zayn Malik, among others. She starred in the video for Calvin Harris ' dance track How Deep Is Your Love , which made it into the international charts. She was also seen several times in the TV series The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills .

Self-marketing and image

Hadid worked as an advertising medium for various companies and has been the "Ambassador" for the Tommy Hilfiger company since 2015 . She also uses her international reputation to market products that have her name as part of the brand name. In 2016, the TommyXGigi fashion collection, which was jointly developed with Tommy Hilfiger, was presented.
