Caviezel comes from Pratval in the canton of Graubünden . From November 2007, at the age of 15, he took part in FIS races and national junior races. In 2009 he was a participant in the European Youth Olympic Festival in Szczyrk . He made his debut in the European Cup in January 2011, and in the same month he won an FIS race for the first time. During the 2011/12 season he established himself in the European Cup with five placements among the top ten. At the Junior World Championships in Roccaraso in 2012 , he finished 5th in Super-G and 18th in giant slalom. At the end of the season he was runner-up in the Swiss Super-G.
On December 1, 2012 Caviezel started in the World Cup for the first time and reached the 36th place in the Super-G of Beaver Creek . He won World Cup points for the first time on January 12, 2013, when he finished eleventh in the traditional giant slalom on the Chuenisbärgli in Adelboden with the high start number 52 and achieved the fourth-fastest time in the second run. On January 26, 2013, the first podium in a European Cup giant slalom followed. At the Junior World Championships in 2013 he won the silver medal in the combined ranking.
Caviezel made the foray into the extended top in the 2014/15 season and thus made it into the top 30 of the World Cup starting list. While he narrowly missed the second round as 32nd at the start of the season in Sölden , he reached 18th and 11th place in Beaver Creek and Åre . The Grisons climber experienced his season highlight in Alta Badia , when he improved from 24th to 9th place with the fastest time in the second round. Caviezel's best World Cup result so far is 8th place in the giant slalom in Kranjska Gora on March 14, 2015. Caviezel took part in several races in the Nor-Am Cup during the 2014/15 season and won the giant slalom discipline. In winter 2018/19 Caviezel got several top 10 places.
