Giovanni D'Ascenzi

Giovanni D'Ascenzi (born January 6, 1920 in Valentano , Province of Viterbo , Italy , † February 26, 2013 in Monte San Savino , Province of Arezzo ) was Bishop of Arezzo-Cortona-Sansepolcro .

Life

Giovanni D'Ascenzi received in the June 19, 1943 Montefiascone the priesthood . In 1950 he completed his studies at the Faculty of Theology of the Pontifical Gregorian University . 1952 he was by Pope Pius XII. appointed monsignor . Pope John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Arezzo, Cortona and Sansepolcro on April 11, 1983 . With the amalgamation of these dioceses on September 30, 1986, D'Ascenzi became the first bishop of Arezzo-Cortona-Sansepolcro.

During his episcopate, Pope John Paul II visited Arezzo and Cortona in 1993, as well as the La Verna monastery and the Camaldolese monastery in Camaldoli and came to the Marian pilgrimage in 1995 and 1996.

On June 8, 1996, Pope John Paul II accepted his resignation due to reasons of age.
