Giuseppe Nicola Nasini (born January 25, 1657 in Castel del Piano , † July 3, 1736 in Siena ) was an Italian painter who painted in the Baroque style .

Life

His father Francesco Nasini came from the neighboring village of Piancastagnaio . He himself was born in Castel del Piano in 1657. His mother was Vittoria Bassi. His grandfather Giacomo Nasini, his father Francesco Nasini and his uncle Antonio Annibale Nasini had the first influences on his work. In 1679 he was a student at the Accademia di San Luca in Rome . For Agostino Chigi (1634–1705) he designed thirteen portraits of the children of Chigi in Ariccia in the Palazzo Chigi from 1679 to 1680 . From 1681 he attended the Accademia Granducale delle Arti in Rome, which at that time was under the direction of Ciro Ferri and was financed by the Medici . In 1685 he returned to Siena and between 1686 and 1688 he stayed in Venice , after which he worked in Florence . On November 21, 1691 he married Elisabetta di Sebastiano Neri in the Chiesa di San Pier Gattolino in Florence. With her he had the children Apollonio (born August 17, 1692), Cosimo Gaetano (born January 13, 1695) and Francesca (born April 9, 1701). In 1715 he returned to Rome to paint in the Basilica of Santi XII Apostoli , the Quirinal Palace and the Basilica di San Giovanni in Laterano . His wife Elisabetta died on January 1st, 1718 in Castel del Piano.

He was in the service of the Grand Duke of Florence and the Elector of Mainz , who procured him the letter of nobility from Emperor Joseph. By him: The four ages (the last four stages of human life: Morte, Giudizio, Inferno, Paradiso) according to Berrettini's design in the Palazzo Pitti , completed in 1694, later kept in the Basilica di San Francesco (now lost), dome of Sant'Antonio Chapel in the Apostle Church in Rome, San Leonardo (in the Madonna del Pianto church in Foligno), Amos ( Lateran basilica in Rome). He also made some etchings, e. B. a Madonna with angels in a landscape.
