The Glas Trösch Holding AG or EUROGLAS Group is a corporation founded in 1905 Swiss group of companies with operational headquarters in Bützberg in the town of Thunstetten and the largest glasherstellende and glass processing family in Europe. The group of companies employs more than 6000 people with 70 companies mainly in Europe.

history

  • In 1905 Johann Friedrich Trösch developed a process for transferring images onto glass and porcelain.
  • In 1938, his son Rudolf Friedrich Trösch (1907–1992) founded today's stock corporation and built a glass grinding shop and a production facility for the manufacture of mirrors , thereby laying the foundation for the company's future industrial development.
  • In 1956 his sons Heinz and Erwin Trösch took over and provided the basis for the rapid and successful expansion of the group of companies through pioneering manufacturing processes for insulating glass.
  • In 1977 the trade and later also the manufacture of the Swisslamex windshields was started and a reliable partner with its own production for workshop partners from Alfa Romeo to Zastava .
  • In 1978, the production of the single-pane safety glass Swissdurex was started and a little later this was supplemented by the laminated safety and armored glass Swisslamex .
  • In 1986 large-area vacuum coating was started and the latest generation of highly heat-insulating insulating glass from the Silverstar brand was introduced, which was later supplemented by the sun protection coatings Sunstop and the reflection-free glass Luxar .
  • In 1995, under the management of Erich Trösch, the flat glassworks Euroglas was built in Hombourg, Alsace , with a daily production of around 500 tons of glass.
  • In 1997 , a second glass factory was built in Haldensleben , near Magdeburg , and ensured the long-term supply of raw materials to the group of companies.
  • In 2001, the production facilities of Schwabenglas GmbH in Germany were taken over and the workforce expanded from 1,380 to 2,500 employees worldwide.
  • In 2006, another Euroglas production site started operations in Osterweddingen .
  • In 2007, the production of laminated safety glass was expanded with the commissioning of the Eurolamex locations in Osterweddingen and Bützberg.
  • In 2008 the group of companies took over the insulating glass company TOV LineWood Artjomowks in Ukraine . The automotive glass division moved to Trimbach and the company employed around 3,110 people at that time.
  • In 2013, the group integrated EuropTec, based in Oftringen (Switzerland), which specializes in technical glass and polymers.

Products

Glas Trösch AG sells large areas of anti-reflective float glass under the brand name Luxar . The anti-reflective effect is achieved by means of an optical interference anti-reflective coating using cathode sputtering . The anti-reflective glasses are mainly used in architecture, but also in art as picture glass or in showcase construction .

Innovations

Since 2007, the group of companies, as the first insulating glass manufacturer, has been using the ift product pass recommended by the Institute for Window Technology , which provides an overview of the insulating glass systems tested, secure transfer rules according to EN 1279-1 for replaced components in the insulating glass system (e.g. sealant, spacer) and the includes proven performance properties according to EN 1279-5. At the same time, it also proves that the evidence for CE marking may be used by the manufacturer.

Strategic alliances

The group of companies is part and licensor of the Sanco Group, a European group of companies from Germany, Belgium , Italy , the Netherlands , Norway , Poland and the Czech Republic consisting of around 40 companies .

Since May 2010 there has been another strategic alliance between the corporate group and the US company DuPont , which includes close cooperation between the two companies in the development of innovative and novel laminated glass products and the European distribution of the DuPont brand SentryGlas.
