history

The place was founded in 1647 and gained economic importance in the 18th century after a weaving mill for fulled fabrics was opened there in 1719 as one of the first industrial companies in the region. Glushkowo became the seat of a Volost of Ujesds Rylsk in the Kursk Governorate , and on July 30, 1928 the administrative seat of a newly created Rajons named after him.

During the Second World War , the place was occupied by the German Wehrmacht from October 8, 1941 to September 2, 1943 . During the fighting as part of the Red Army's counter-offensive after the failure of the German Citadel company , the settlement was badly affected, so that the population fell by almost two thirds after the war.

In 1959 the place received the status of an urban-type settlement.
