Prjamizyno ( Russian Прями́цыно ) is an urban-type settlement in the Kursk Oblast in Russia with 5094 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010).

geography

The place is about 20 km as the crow flies southwest of the Kursk Oblast Administrative Center on the left bank of the Seim .

Prjamizyno is the administrative center of the Rajons Oktyabrsky and seat and only town of the municipality (gorodskoje posselenije) Possjolok Prjamizyno.

history

The place was first mentioned in a document in 1768. Until the 20th century it was overshadowed by the large neighboring village of Djakonowo (population 5749 in 1897) to the west , which in 1928 became the administrative seat of the newly formed Leninsky rajon (named after Lenin ).

During the Second World War , the place was occupied by the German Wehrmacht from the beginning of November 1941 to around February 10, 1943 . As part of the removal of the war damage, a new settlement was built in the Prjamitsyno area, in which the district administration was located from the 1950s until the district was dissolved on February 1, 1963.

On December 9, 1970, the Rajon was newly formed, now as Oktjabrski rajon, from Russian oktjabr for "October", here with reference to the October Revolution , again based in Prjamitsyno. On March 16, 1973, the place received the status of an urban-type settlement.
