The Gmina Biała Rawska [ 'Bawa' rafska ] is an urban-and-rural municipality in the Powiat Rawski of the Łódź Voivodeship in Poland . Its seat is the city of the same name with about 3180 inhabitants.
geography
The municipality is located in the east of the voivodeship and borders in the northeast and east and on the municipalities of Mszczonów and Błędów in the Masovian Voivodeship . Other neighboring communities in the Łódź Voivodeship are the rural communities of Kowiesy , Nowy Kawęczyn , Rawa Mazowiecka , Regnów and Sadkowice . The cities of Warsaw and Łódź are about 45 and 70 kilometers east and west, respectively.
The community has an area of 28.4 km², 85 percent of which is used for agriculture and 9 percent for forestry. The Białka River flows through its main town.
history
The rural community was formed in 1973. Like the city that gave it its name ( town charter until 1870 and since 1925), it belonged to the Skierniewice Voivodeship from 1975 to 1998 , which only existed at that time.
Because of its central location between Warsaw and Łódź as well as in Poland, the former military training area near Babsk was one of the possible locations of the planned central airport (Centralny Port Komunikacyjny, CPK) . However, it is to be built further north on the territory of the rural municipality of Baranów .
