The Gmina Koczała is a rural municipality in the powiat Człuchowski of the Pomeranian Voivodeship in Poland . The rural community covers an area of ​​222.4 km² and has about 3400 inhabitants. Its seat is the village of the same name ( German Flötenstein ) with more than 2100 inhabitants.

Geographical location

The rural community is located in the former West Prussia on the border with Western Pomerania , about ten kilometers southeast of Miastko (Rummelsburg) . 67% of the municipal area are forest and forest areas. The municipality extends in the northwest to the border with the West Pomeranian Voivodeship and its eastern border forms the former border between the German Empire and the Polish Corridor . The Brda (Brahe) flows through the eastern part of the municipality, and the Ruda (Hammelfließ) to the west .

The Gmina Koczała is remote from the traffic point of view. Koczała can be reached via a side road that branches off at Piaszczyna (pure water) on the national road DK 20 ( Stargard - Gdynia ). The next town is Miastko.

A rail connection has not existed since 1992. At that time, the 1902-built Człuchów – Słosinko railway from Człuchów (Schlochau) via Przechlewo (Prechlau) to Słosinko (Reinfeld) and continued on to Miastko .
