The Gmina Stare Pole is a rural community in the powiat Malborski ( German Marienburg ) in the Polish Pomeranian Voivodeship . It has an area of 79.7 km², on which 4678 people live (June 30, 2019). Its seat is the village of the same name (Altfelde) .
geography
The rural community is located in Pomerania in the area of the Żuławy Wiślane (Weichsel-Nogat Delta) in the area of the Żuław Elbląskich (Elbinger Werders) . The Nogat is one of the waters . In the west, the Gmina borders on the rural community Malbork (Marienburg) . 76 percent of the area is used for agriculture, 3% is forest.
history
Until the first division of Poland , the municipality belonged to the city of Elbing . In 1773 Altfelde came to the Kingdom of Prussia and the Province of West Prussia . Due to the provisions of the Versailles Treaty , the population belonged to the Marienwerder voting area in 1920 . In the district of Marienburg the population voted with 98.93 percent of the vote to remain with West Prussia. Since this west of the Nogat fell to the Free City of Danzig , the area east of the Nogat came to East Prussia .
From 1975 to 1998 the rural community belonged to the Elblag Voivodeship . On the western edge of the rural community is the Malbork military airfield (22nd Baza Lotnicza) . In the wake of the Crimean crisis, it was temporarily used by NATO as part of the “ Air Policing Baltic States ”.
