The Gmina Wieruszów is an urban-and-rural municipality in the powiat Wieruszowski of the Łódź Voivodeship in Poland . The seat of the Powiat and the district is the city ​​of the same name with around 8550 inhabitants.

The municipality is located in the southwest of the voivodeship. It borders in the southwest on the municipality Łęka Opatowska , in the west on the municipalities Baranów and Kępno , in the north on the municipality Doruchów - both in the Greater Poland Voivodeship ; in the east to the municipalities of Galewice and Sokolniki (Powiat Wieruszowski) as well as in the southeast to the municipality of Czastary and in the south to the municipality of Bolesławiec - both in the Łódź voivodeship.

The rivers include the Prosna and its tributary Brzeźnica, the former forms the border of the municipality in the northeast. - The community has an area of ​​97 km², 68 percent of which is used for agriculture and 20 percent for forestry.

history

The rural community was formed in 1973, its predecessor was Gmina Podzamcze until 1954 . In 1990/1991 it was merged with the municipality to form the urban and rural municipality. The respective communities belonged to the Kalisz Voivodeship from 1975 to 1998 , which only existed during this period. In 1999 the present municipality came to the enlarged Łódź Voivodeship and its main town again became the county seat of the Powiat . - Podzamcze ( German Podsamtsche , 1906-1920 Wilhelmsbrück ) 1973 became a district of Wieruszów.

In what was later to become the municipality, the Prosna was the border river between Prussia and Congress Poland and the German and Russian Empire from 1815 to 1918 . The western parts of the municipality came to the newly founded Poland in 1920 with the Kempen district in Posen .

The town-and-country municipality (gmina miejsko-wiejska) Wieruszów with 14,308 inhabitants (as of June 30, 2019) consists of the town itself and 14 villages with school boards (sołectwa). On August 13, 2019, the new Schulzenamt Górka Wieruszowska was separated from the Schulzenamt Chobanin. The school authorities are:

Hamlets and settlements are Mesznary, Podzamcze, Skakawa, Święty, Roch and Wesoła; there are also the forest settlements of Mieleszyn, Ochędzyn and Przywory.

traffic

The S8 expressway runs through the municipality from Wroclaw to Warsaw . The voivodship roads DW450 from Kalisz to Opatów and the DW482 from Kępno to Łódź run through its main town .

On the Herby – Oleśnica railway line , the Wieruszów Miasto stop has existed since 1986 , and the station itself is no longer operated by passengers. - Wroclaw International Airport is closer than Łódź Airport .
