Go ahead! eV is a German non-profit aid organization that supports disadvantaged children and fair access to education in sub-Saharan Africa throughout Germany and promotes local initiatives there.

The chairmen of the association are Katharina Lange and Jenny Schuller. The independent association is represented nationwide through a network of university groups in Bremen , Paderborn , Heidelberg , Marburg , Erfurt and Munich . These work independently and organize fundraising campaigns or content-related events on the topics of HIV / AIDS and poverty in sub-Saharan Africa.

Young volunteers are supported by experienced mentors. In Germany, the association collects donations to support educational and HIV / AIDS awareness projects in sub-Saharan Africa and provides information about the situation of disadvantaged children and the inadequate access to education for young people in this region. Specifically, the Germany-wide work of the association and the university groups consists in the organization of various events such as benefit concerts and sports events, lectures, workshops or information evenings. The organization also offers school workshops across Germany.

Partner projects in Sub-Saharan Africa

The association works together with local aid organizations in southern Africa and financially supports preschools and selected educational and awareness-raising projects for the benefit of disadvantaged children. The most important project partners in Sub-Saharan Africa are the non-profit organizations Heartbeat , Transitions Foundation, Pastoral Center, 1000 Hills Community Helpers, ACTS International and United Through Sports.

Campaigns

kickHIV!

As part of the 2010 soccer world championship in South Africa, the association ran the Germany-wide campaign kickHIV! With the support of soccer players Mesut Özil and Philipp Lahm , entertainer Elton , actor Steffen Groth , singer Cassandra Steen and author Bartholomäus Grill . by. The media partner was Friday's print medium . Over 60 campaigns took place in over 40 locations across Germany in a short period of time. The donation income of around 35,000 euros was used to finance sports education projects in South Africa, which pursue the scientific approach Youth Development through Soccer (YDTS).

BreakTheCycle

The nationwide awareness campaign BreakTheCycle - Education as a way out was carried out for the first time from November 18 to December 1, 2011 (World AIDS Day) and has taken place annually since then. The aim of the campaign is to inform young people in Germany about the vicious circle of HIV / AIDS, poverty and insufficient access to education in southern Africa and to make them aware of the social problems of their peers in this region. Numerous actions take place all over Germany. The campaign received support from the then federal chairwoman of Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen, Claudia Roth , and the actor Steffen Groth . In 2019, along the three main days of action, International Day for the Eradication of Poverty (October 17th), World AIDS Day (December 1st) and Education Day (December 8th), many different activities took place around focus on HIV / AIDS. The aim is to combine awareness-raising work and entertainment with concerts, sports tournaments, film screenings and many other activities - all donations collected go directly to our local project partners in South Africa, Uganda and Zambia.

Profs vs. Professionals for charity

Since May 2014, as part of the poetry slam tour “Profs vs. Profis for Charity “professors from various universities against professionals from the poetry slam scene. The proceeds will benefit various projects of the association. Among other things, the poetry slammer Julia Engelmann competed in Bremen against the professors there.

Traveling exhibition "Through my Eyes"

The traveling exhibition "Through my Eyes" has been on view in various German cities since 2013. It shows 30 pictures from everyday school life in Namibia and South Africa. For this purpose, Go Ahead! Members distributed disposable cameras to school children who took the pictures themselves.

Donation drink

The DONATION DRINK is a long-term donation project of the non-profit organization Go Ahead !. The campaign was launched in 2019 and is aimed at committed gastronomy owners who want to help raise donations with their restaurant, bar or café. The basic idea is that a drink on the drinks menu becomes a donation drink. If a guest buys the defined drink, a certain share (e.g. € 0.20) is paid to Go Ahead! donated. Homemade drinks are best for this, such as B. iced tea, lemonade or a new cocktail creation. These are something special in themselves and with the “Donation Drink” seal: unbeatable! In principle, however, any drink of your choice can become a donation drink.

By participating in Transparency International's Transparent Civil Society initiative , Go Ahead! committed to full transparency. The homepage reveals which activities the association carries out, where the funds come from, how they are used and who the decision-makers are.
