Gottlob Mathias Siegfried of Borcke (* 26. July 1717 in Wriezen ; † 10. March 1797 in Roggow . (Kr Regenwalde )) was a Prussian major general and chief of the Dragoon Regiment 7th .

Life

origin

His parents were the lieutenant colonel and commandant of Driesen Melchior Felix von Borcke (* March 12, 1686 - November 8, 1753) and his wife Auguste Katharina, née von Soldan (* 1691; † January 29, 1748).

Military career

Borcke was employed in 1731 as a Junker in the "Bayreuth" dragoon regiment of the Prussian Army . There he became ensign on February 25, 1735 and second lieutenant on September 12, 1739 . During the First Silesian War he took part in the battles of Mollwitz and Chotusitz . In the Second Silesian War he fought near Hohenfriedberg and Kesselsdorf . After the war, Borcke was promoted to Prime Lieutenant on January 12, 1749 . In the subsequent Seven Years' War he took part in the battles near Lobositz , Breslau , Leuthen , Torgau and Hochkirch . He was at the time on February 24, 1757 staff captain , on February 14, 1759 captain and squadron chief and on November 13, 1760 major .

After the war, Borcke rose to the rank of colonel on May 27, 1775 and as such received command of the "Ansbach-Bayreuth" dragoon regiment on March 19, 1778. With the regiment he took part in the War of the Bavarian Succession in 1778/79 . The king appointed Borcke on March 19, 1781 chief of the "von Apenburg" dragoon regiment and on September 23, 1782 promoted him to major general. On the occasion of the revue in Heiligenbeil , Borcke received the order Pour le Mérite on June 7, 1789 .

Because of his age, King Friedrich Wilhelm II released him from participating in the upcoming campaign in May 1790. Borcke then dimitted on July 30, 1790 with a pension of 1200 thalers . Less than a month later, he was also given permission to wear the uniform of his previous regiment.

Borcke died unmarried on March 10, 1797.
