County of Rodez

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The county of Rodez was a fiefdom within the county of Rouergue in what is now the Aveyron department ; their capital was Rodez .

It was formed when Raimund von Saint-Gilles , Count of Rouergue, set out on the crusade and before Richard, a son of the Vice-Count of Millau , ruled over the lower town of Rodez, called le Bourg (in contrast to the Cité , the upper town, which owned by the bishop), and made some castles in the surrounding area. From this decision, the County of Rodez developed very quickly.
