Race course

40 kilometers after the start, a 21-man leading group was able to pull away, including Marcus Burghardt (Germany / Bora), Petr Vakoč (Czech Republic / Quick Step), Thomas Boudat (France / Direct Energie) and Mads Pedersen (Denmark / Trek). The group was able to pull out a lead of up to two minutes. With this racing situation, the five final laps of 15 kilometers each started. A good 22 kilometers before the finish line, six drivers out of the large leading group, including Burghardt, Vakoc and Boudat, separated. Boudat attacked out of the group of 6 and drove on alone. However, a good 15 kilometers from the finish line, all of the runaways from the escape group had been caught. Then again 12 men left, including Gianluca Brambilla (Italy / Quick Step) and Lukas Pöstlberger (Austria / Bora). This group was also put back. 5 kilometers from the finish, Dries Devenyns (Belgium / Quick Step) attacked with fellow countryman and teammate Julien Vermote on the rear wheel. Shortly afterwards Devenyns pulled out and Vermote continued in solo. With 800 meters to go, his endeavor was over and a mass sprint started. This was won by Nacer Bouhanni (France / Cofidis) in front of his compatriot Marc Sarreau (France / FDJ).
