Great Neck is a village in the town of North Hempstead in the US state of New York with 9,989 inhabitants (2010). It is in an area of ​​summer residences along the Great Neck Cape on the north coast of Long Island . Due to its early settlement around 1644, it is also known as the Old Village ("Old Village"), in 1922 it was incorporated .

The writer F. Scott Fitzgerald lived in Great Neck for some time and used it together with neighboring towns as the setting for his novel The Great Gatsby .
