Groß Krauscha ( Upper Sorbian Krušow ) is a district and the seat of the municipal administration of the municipality of Neißeaue in the district of Görlitz in Saxony . The place belongs to the administrative association Weißer Schöps / Neisse and was an independent municipality until July 1, 1995.

location

Groß Krauscha is located around ten kilometers north of Görlitz and eleven kilometers southeast of Niesky in Upper Lusatia . Surrounding villages are Kaltwasser in the north, Zentendorf and Deschka in the northeast, Neu Krauscha in the east, Emmerichswalde in the south, Kodersdorf in the west and Klein Krauscha in the northwest. The district road 8434 leads through the village, the state road 127 is about one and a half kilometers southeast of Groß Krauscha.

history

Groß Krauscha, laid out as a street village, was mentioned in 1315 with the name Crushin . The place name, which comes from Sorbian, indicates a clearing settlement. At the beginning of the 15th century the name was added, first in 1410 as magna Krewsche and in the following year as great Kruschen . After that, the addition to the name was partially deleted. In 1564 the place was called Grosse Crausche and in 1592 Groß Crauschau , since 1652 the place is known under the current name Groß Krauscha .

Groß Krauscha has always been part of the Zodel parish . In the 16th century the village belonged to the town council of Görlitz , in the 17th century a manor was established in Groß Krauscha. In addition, Groß Krauscha was a school location for the children from big, small and new Krauscha. At the beginning of the 19th century, the place was predominantly agricultural.

After the division of the Kingdom of Saxony decided at the Congress of Vienna , Groß Krauscha, like the rest of Upper Lusatia, came to the Kingdom of Prussia . The place belonged to the administrative district of Liegnitz in the province of Silesia and was assigned to the district of Rothenburg (Ob. Laus.) During the regional reform in 1816 . On January 1, 1820, the community moved to the district of Görlitz . In 1874, the country town of Gross Krauscha closed the with Deschka, Zentendorf and Zodel District together Zodel. In 1919 the province of Silesia was divided, with Groß Krauscha now part of the province of Lower Silesia . From January 16, 1947, Groß Krauscha belonged to the district of Weißwasser-Göritz , which was created by the merger of the districts of Görlitz and Weißwasser and was renamed the district of Niesky a year later . During the GDR district reform on July 25, 1952, the community was assigned to the Görlitz-Land district in the Dresden district . After reunification , Groß Krauscha initially belonged to the district of Görlitz , during the district reform in 1994 the community changed to the newly founded Lower Silesian Upper Lusatia District . On July 1, 1995, the municipalities of Groß Krauscha, Kaltwasser and Zodel merged to form the new municipality of Neißeaue , which has its administrative headquarters in Groß Krauscha. Since 1996 this municipality has belonged to the administrative association Weißer Schöps / Neisse . Groß Krauscha has been part of the Görlitz district since the 2008 district reform.

In 1547 there were 20 possessed men in Groß Krauscha , in 1777 the population consisted of seven possessed men, 17 gardeners and four cottagers. In 1825 the community had 320 inhabitants, in the following years Groß Krauscha was able to achieve population growth. In 1871 there were 507 inhabitants, in 1885 there were 533 and before the beginning of the Second World War 645 inhabitants. After the end of the war, the population rose to 743 as a result of refugees from the eastern regions, and the population has been falling since then. On October 3, 1990, Groß Krauscha only had 469 inhabitants, two months later 460. On June 30, 2018, 338 inhabitants lived in Groß Krauscha, whereby it must be noted that the town of Neu Krauscha is included in the population figures before 1995.

Cultural monuments

According to the State Office for the Preservation of Monuments in Saxony, five architectural monuments have been identified for the place Groß Krauscha . These are two residential stables from the 19th century, the former village school, a stone road and the two memorials to the victims of the wars between 1866 and 1871 and the First World War . The former was set up in 1898.
