Gudula Mueller-Töwe

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Gudula Mueller-Töwe (* in Plettenberg ) is a German film and theater actress who celebrated her greatest successes in Spain and Africa .

Beginnings

Gudula Mueller-Töwe was born in the small town of Plettenberg in the Sauerland region, where she graduated from high school. She then began a master's degree in Romance and German at the Free University of Berlin , which she abandoned in favor of training at a private drama school, which she completed with a successful stage entrance examination.

After performances at several young theater festivals, she left Berlin and moved to Barcelona , where she initially appeared in street theater with performances.

Spain

In 1999 she played and produced in Barcelona with the group Humus the play Syndrome Guy , based on stories by Guy de Maupassant , which was staged at the Teatre Breu under the direction of Joan Segales . In the same year she starred in the TV miniseries Homenots of Catalan the role of television Amanda . In 2001 she appeared as Anna Schinkel in Gerardo Vera's film Deseo .

She returned to the theater stage with an engagement at the renowned La Fura dels Baus for the play OBS / Obsesión . The premiere in Brussels in May 2000 was followed by performances in Spain , then a tour of South America and then further performances in Europe, including at the Ravenna Theater Festival .

Africa

After long trips to Botswana and Zimbabwe , Mueller-Töwe settled in Harare in 2004 and worked there as the director and director of the international theater company La Reina . The play Frog Queen , in which the living conditions of single mothers in Europe and Africa are discussed in a partly satirical way, was performed in April 2006 at the Harare International Festival of the Arts (Hifa). The director was particularly keen on the importance of multicultural projects for promoting local artists in Zimbabwe. After further performances in Zimbabwe, the ensemble was invited to the April International Theater Festival 2007 in Lusaka , Zambia , and celebrated great success there. Frog Queen was honored as the best international contribution and "La Towe" as the best actress, although she had only recently taken on the role due to the short-term absence of the planned leading actress. Also in 2007, and again supported by the Goethe Center Harare, Mueller-Töwe directed another play in Zimbabwe in collaboration with the University of Zimbabwe : “The Good Woman of Setzuan” by Bertolt Brecht . The production was highly praised in the press. Mueller-Töwe is currently working as a drama teacher at Saint Andrew's International High School in Blantyre, Malawi, where he is promoting a.o. a. contact with local artists.

Private
