The Guilford Township is one of 23 townships in Jo Daviess County in the extreme northwest of the US -amerikanischen state of Illinois .

The Guilford Township is located in northwest Illinois. The border with Iowa , which is formed by the Mississippi , is about 20 km to the west. The Wisconsin border is about 10 to the north.
The Guilford Township lies at 42 ° 24'50 "north latitude and 90 ° 17'24" west longitude and extends over 96.72 km², which is spread over 96.24 km² of land and 0.48 km² of water. In the west of the township is Lake Galena , a reservoir of Smallpox Creek , the dam of which is located in the neighboring East Galena Township .
The Guilford Township borders within Jo Daviess County in the northwest to the Council Hill Township , in the northeast to the Scales Mound Township , to the east to the Thompson Township , to the southeast to the Woodbine Township , to the south to the Elizabeth Township , to the southwest to the Rice Township and to the west to East Galena Township .

With the exception of a very short section of US Highway 20 in the southwest, there are no interregional highways in Guilford Township. The township is crossed by a number of partly unpaved county roads and other subordinate roads.
The nearest airports are about 50 km to the west located in Iowa Dubuque Regional Airport and approximately 45 km north in Wisconsin situated Platteville Municipal Airport .
